Welcome
Welcome, I’m Kristy and the founder of The Hotel Club and I am so grateful to share this journey with you. There are no words to express the excitement and nervousness I have inside of me at this moment as I begin my first steps into entrepreneurship. I have had the fortune of meeting so many incredible entrepreneurs in my career and have been in awe, the dream of becoming a part of this unique group is pure joy. To those I have worked with, sought advice from and are friends and family who are here reading this, thank you for being here and for being a part of my story, to those who I have yet to meet and to know thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself.
My first spa job was at a Day Spa in Corte Madera, a beautiful town north of San Francisco. My neighbor was the co-owner, she had a feeling I should work at her spa, I had no idea what a spa was but I was curious. I remember walking through the spa doors and was smitten with the energy, soothing sound of spa music in the background and the smell of sweet eucalyptus and mint in the air. The shelves beautifully lined with products I had never seen before, lotions and potions. I was in spa love! It’s been 23 years since I walked through those doors and have had the most incredible time of my life in pursuing my career within the spa and hospitality industry ever since. I never would have imagined how life changing that decision was to work in a spa. I’ve had the pleasure of working for The Claremont Hotel & Spa, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas, Mandarin Oriental and more recently The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows.
In being a part these hotels and spas, the greatest joy has always been the people and teams I have worked with and the brands and partners along the way. You see, I love people and I love being of service to them. I’ve met thousands of people along the way and have learned so much. It’s been incredible to travel all around the world for my work and also for pleasure, staying at beautiful hotels, experiencing wellness treatments, eating delicious food, enjoying art, music and learning about so many different cultures. This is the zest of life, experiencing every facet that evokes your senses and makes you fall in love with the world over and over again and I am obsessed.
Along my journey I have known one thing to be the most important of all, kindness is king. No matter what you do, where you are, who you meet and how you live and work… kindness is the most valuable thing in each person. Kindness is so important to me that I personally refuse to work with anyone who isn’t kind. I truly believe you can be a successful person and company through your authentic and genuine kindness towards others and for others, kindness is free!
My reason for creating The Hotel Club, is to share my love for the many facets that make a hotel so special. From the back of house of a hotel to the restaurants & bars, the wellness & spa experiences and must have lifestyle products inside beautiful and unique properties from around the world. And it wouldn’t be complete without learning about the many people who have shaped and influenced this amazing hospitality world through their kindness, vision, innovation and individual uniqueness. I am so looking forward to sharing these conversations on our podcast which will be coming soon. It is my hope that joining The Hotel Club will inspire you to enjoy life more and gain a deeper understanding and love for all facets of the hotel world.
